Sandtoft will be launching a new solar roofing system - Sandtoft
PV48 - at Ecobuild 2011.
Designed for pitched roofs, the system incorporates black PV panels
with matching, easy-to -fit flashings that enable it to integrate
with virtually all types of slate or tile. It can be used on both
existing and new build properties and installed by any roofing
contractor.
As each PV panel measures 1.4 square metres, material and labour
savings can be achieved when compared to bolt-on systems. In
addition, the roofing contractor can fit both the tiles and the
solar panels, removing the need for a specialist solar installer,
which saves time.
"Our new system has been designed for installation by roofers as a
complete system, so is supplied ready to fit," said Andrew Lawton,
Sandtoft's sales director. "Unlike some PV panels which are offered
by electronics companies, there is no risk of any integration issues
with the roof tiles. Our system can be easily installed using a
method widely used by roofers, which reduces the risk of poor
workmanship and subsequent weatherproofing problems.
"The PV48 is also aesthetically pleasing. The flashings are matt
black so are unobtrusive and also maintain the straight vertical
lines on the roof, avoiding the step effect that occurs with broken
bonded tiles."
*For homeowners looking to take advantage of the Government's
feed-in tariffs, the system could generate 70 per cent of a
household's electricity requirements per year and would require 15
solar modules on the roof.
Customers can also benefit from Sandtoft's RoofSpec which guarantees
that the roof will remain weatherproof for at least 15 years when
the system is designed and installed in accordance with Sandtoft's
specification.
Sandtoft's PV48 is MCS accredited and can be seen on the
Wienerberger stand - N930 - at Ecobuild 2011.
Visitors to the event can also view Sandtoft's range of 'New
Generation' clay roof tiles, which are all manufactured using 100
per cent green electricity. These include the 20/20 plain tile, the
large-format Cassius, and the BritLock, which is made from 80 per
cent recycled slate and in a carbon-neutral production plant.
