A former printworks on Amelia Street in Southwark has been developed by the Homes and Communities Agency with innovative housing developer First Base under the London Wide Initiative.

Printworks is a high quality mixed-tenure development, designed by Glenn Howell Architects, which will make a substantial contribution to the regeneration of the Elephant & Castle area, providing affordable homes for key workers alongside private for sale and socially-rented homes. The nine storey block has offices on the ground floor and 97 apartments with a choice of 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms.

1090 Urban Edge door sets were specified for the project constructed with EnduraCor – an exclusive engineered performance core whose durability and stability make it especially suitable for harsh environments. In a recent independent test, EnduraCor was shown to be one hundred times more durable than multi-layered chipboard. This highly cost-effective solution could significantly reduce ‘whole life’ repair and maintenance costs and may never have to be replaced.

Door sets were faced in crown cut American red oak incorporating an anti-microbial additive within the wood lacquer which kills most harmful bacteria including C.diff, MRSA, Salmonella, Ecoli and Listeria.
