For the second time in just a couple of years, leading steam boiler
manufacturer Fulton Limited has provided timely assistance to
Bristol-based Atlantic Linen Services, this time after Atlantic
Linen moved to larger premises following a fire that ripped through
its previous premises leaving the laundry services company unable to
operate.
Atlantic Linen Services provides linen hire and laundry services to
a wide range of businesses in the catering, hospitality and leisure
sectors, as well as local authorities, educational establishments
and charitable organisations.
In 2007, the steam generator at Atlantic Linen’s original laundry
facility failed, leaving the company without its source of steam.
However, following a call to boiler manufacturer Fulton – also
Bristol-based – a reconditioned 30E steam boiler was supplied and
installed within just a few days and Atlantic Linen was back in
business! In addition, while installing the replacement boiler
Fulton discovered a wet steam issue with the original steam
generator, which they eliminated.
Within eighteen months of the replacement 30E steam boiler being
installed, Atlantic Linen was forced to relocate after its premises
were destroyed by fire following a spontaneous combustion incident.
Once again, Atlantic Linen decided chose to specify a Fulton boiler
and some quick discussions and initial negotiations regarding the
immediate needs of the business produced a prompt response from
Fulton. A new, ex-stock RBC1850 horizontal steam boiler was
immediately available, the burner was modified and the new system
was available within weeks. This quick response played an important
part in establishing Atlantic Linen’s new larger laundry production
facility. The new RBC boiler features automatic TDS blowdown
control, which besides supplying the steam to heat five washer
extractors and two large roll ironers, also provides steam for the
building’s HVAC system via fan-assisted steam batteries.
Fulton was also able to save the previously installed 30E boiler,
which was re-commissioned and now acts as a backup during planned
shutdown and maintenance.
Commenting for Atlantic Linen, Abdul Choudhury says: “Fulton
provided expert advice on steam generation solutions and following
the initial assistance we received with the 30E steam boiler, we
knew the right choice for us was to go back to Fulton. The new steam
boiler solution now provides significant extra capacity for our new
larger laundry plant.
“Not only was it really nice to deal with accessible friendly staff
from a local company, but Fulton also has a very good reputation as
a steam boiler manufacturer and a lot of experience in laundry
applications.” He adds that as well as managing both steam boiler
projects very professionally, Fulton was also flexible with the
payment terms during what was a key period in ensuring business
continuity for Atlantic Linen.
