Sandtoft Roof Tiles has strengthened its technical services team with the appointment of Simon Dixon as Training Manager. Based at Sandtoft's head office near Doncaster, he brings almost 30 years' roofing experience to the team, including 14 spent as a slater and tiler.

Simon qualified as a tiling instructor and assessor in 1995 and has worked in assessment centres across the UK. One of his key objectives at Sandtoft will be to provide training for the company's new solar roofing system - PV48 - including developing an installation guide for roofers.

Speaking about his new role, Simon said: "I have worked with Sandtoft for a number of years in its training and assessment centre, so I know the company and its products very well. It's great to be working with a manufacturer that is at the forefront of new product design as highlighted by the launch of the PV48. I will be working very closely with roofers across the country to help highlight the benefits of the new system, including its ease of installation and flexibility."

During his extensive career in roofing, Simon has worked for a number of high-profile training bodies, including the National Construction College in its flagship roofing assessment centre in Kent and the NFRC in its training centre in Northern Ireland. He is also a regional and national judge for the SkillBuild competitions.

Sandtoft's technical services team provides comprehensive advice on designing, specifying and installing a roof in accordance with the latest legislation and building standards. It offers a vast library of technical data, bespoke information and calculations to meet customers' specific needs.
