Over 4,000 sqm of Admaster Composite Support System panels with an
80mm thick LPCB-approved PIR (polyisocyanurate) insulation core were
specified by Chapman Taylor Architects for the low pitched roof and
upper floor wall areas of the impressive new Grand Arcade retail
centre in Cambridge. Bovis Lend Lease was the main contractor and T.
R. Freeman Ltd installed the Admaster CSS panels, finishing them all
with a Rheinzink 0.7mm pre-weathered raised seam zinc outer sheet.
“We specified Admaster CSS as it provides an economic fast-track
building solution. The self-supporting system enables a CDM-safe and
virtually weatherproof roof platform to be created very quickly
allowing other internal work to progress immediately whilst the
exterior roof finish is being completed, thereby saving time and
money,” says James Atha of Chapman Taylor.
Comprising a pre-coated polyester flat outer steel sheet with a
virtually flat white polyester coated steel inner liner and an LPCB-approved
PIR insulation core with thicknesses ranging from 50mm to 200mm
enables the Admaster CSS to achieve U-values as low as 0.10 W/m˛K.
The system has also gained a BREEAM ‘A+’ rating in accordance with
the Green Guide to Specification.
Providing a temporary weathering platform capable of supporting foot
traffic during the construction process, lightweight Admaster CSS is
available in standard lengths from 2 to 12 metres and can also be
supplied in longer lengths of up to 18 metres where required.
Admaster CSS panels have an 1100mm standard cover width with an
air-tight tongue and groove side lap joint - the flat outer sheet
forms an ideal base for an endless array of weather sheet finishes
as the system is compatible with most materials including copper,
aluminium, terne stainless steel, zinc, slating, tiling and single
ply membrane.
Owned by Universities Superannuation Scheme Ltd, Grand Arcade offers
shoppers an exciting mix of 60 fashion, beauty, home, jewellery,
food and children’s-wear retailers right in the heart of the
beautiful city of Cambridge.
