Good
quality lighting, manufactured in the UK, was the preferred choice
of leading construction company SRW (Skanska, Raleigh, and
Weatherfoil), who specified luminaires by Riegens Lighting for the
new Fluor Limited Headquarters at IQ Farnborough. American owned
Fluor provides engineering, procurement, construction and project
management services on a global basis.
The four-building complex of approximately 210,000 square feet at
Farnborough was chosen as the ideal base for the company’s new
headquarters because of its easy links to motorways and close
proximity to London.
Riegens sleek and elegant Arbos I recessed luminaire was used
throughout the main office areas. Offering a good uniform light
output with direct/indirect illumination and a twin light source
(40W or 50W T5 lamps), the 600mm x 600mm luminaire has a dropped
perforated central unit design. Other luminaires in the range
include Arbos IF with a central flush perforated diffuser or Arbos
DF with a twin flush unit. All the Arbos range comes complete with
HF or HF emergency control gear and other options that are available
on request.
For the core warehouse areas, Riegens DL-ECO energy efficient
downlighters using compact fluorescent lamps have been installed.
DL-ECO is one of the most energy efficient luminaires on the market
today. The luminaire uses either 14W or 17W lamps which make it
possible to achieve 25% energy reductions when equivalent to compact
lamps with high frequency controls and over 50% when compared with
electromagnetic systems. In addition, the luminaires offer a
significant reduction in C02 emissions with no sacrifice in
performance. Easy to install and maintain, the unit has a simple
twist and lock connection.
Riegens were the preferred supplier due to reliability and the
ability to produce good quality fittings. With energy saving always
of importance on any project it made sense to use a UK manufacturer
which, in turn, would mean a reduction in carbon footprint.
