JS Air Curtains has supplied four designer air curtains to the
recently opened St Barnabas House hospice in Worthing. Two 1.5m and
two 2m Intensse air curtains are preventing cold air from entering
the reception of the newly built £13.5 million healthcare
development.
The Intensse air curtain has an attractive oval design, strip
lighting, a built-in fragrance option and germicidal UVC lamp to
eliminate airborne viruses and micro-organisms, making it ideal for
healthcare environments. A casing encapsulates the mounting arm to
give a seamless finish to the air curtain’s design.
The air curtains were specified by sustainable design consultants,
John Packer Associates in Uckfield, and installed by SMS Southern
Ltd of Brighton. St Barnabas House offers specialist palliative care
to patients, their families and carers living in Worthing and the
surrounding area. It opened in March 2011 and was almost entirely
funded by voluntary grants, donations and fundraising activities.
The Intensse air curtain is available in 1m, 1.5m and 2m lengths
with fan powers up to 3,800m³/hr and heat outputs from 9.5 to 36kW,
making the model ideal for entrances up to 2.8m high.
The air curtain at St Barnabas is dark grey with black colour trims.
However, it is also available in two other standard metallic
options; silver or champagne, and also any RAL colour on request.
Strip colour trims around each end can be specified to tie-in with
an interior and white, red, blue or green fluorescent lighting tubes
can be fitted within the air intake section to provide attractive
additional lighting to an entrance.
Fast heat wire elements and an energy saving power regulation system
reduce energy consumption by up to 20% compared to standard
electrically heated air curtains. The wire elements within the unit
heat up to temperature in just 5-10 seconds rather than the 120
seconds it takes a stainless steel heating rod to reach temperature.
Once the internal temperature nears its set point the air curtain
will pulse the power to the elements, reducing the overall energy
consumption and maintaining a more consistent internal temperature.
Control is via a digital wired remote control and up to six units
can be chained under one control mechanism. Alternatively the
Intensse can be linked to a building management system.
JS Air Curtains supplies an extensive range of air curtains, as well
as bespoke solutions, for all commercial and industrial
applications. JS’ in-house project management division can also
provide a smooth, hassle-free installation service that walks the
customer through from design specification to post-installed product
training.
