HITACHI Europe’s Ongoing Japan Relief Effort
Following the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan on
11 March 2011, Hitachi in Europe continues to support the Red Cross’s relief
effort, through the Hitachi Japan Disaster Appeal.
Caroline Hayes of Hitachi Air Conditioning and Refrigeration said, “Anyone
wishing to make a donation can contribute through the “Hitachi Japan Disaster
Appeal” page which has been set up on the Virgin Money Giving website.”
The address is:
http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserProfilePage.action?userUrl=HitachiJapanDisasterAppeal
Money donated through the website will be given to the Red Cross Japan Tsunami
Appeal via the British Red Cross. Using the website will allow the British Red
Cross to recover tax, via Gift Aid, from eligible tax payers in the UK.
The Hitachi Group, whose HQ is in Tokyo, is already providing support to those
affected by the disaster with a total value of 750 million yen, including the
provision of flat panel TVs, dry cell batteries, and Disaster Victim Support
Systems for local municipalities. It is also providing assistance at the
Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station of TEPCO and is helping to resolve the
power supply shortage, amongst other activities.
Hitachi expresses deep condolences for victims of the earthquake and sincerely
hopes for the earliest possible recovery in all regions involved. More
information on Hitachi’s response to this disaster and the assistance it is
giving can be found at http://www.hitachi.com/New/cnews/index.html
