ISOVER Enhances Timber Frame Systems With The Launch Of 140mm
Timber Frame Batt
Isover, leading developer of sustainable insulation solutions to protect both
the natural and built environment, has introduced a new 140mm thickness version
to its Timber Frame Batt 32 range enhancing the performance of timber frame
external wall systems.
Providing excellent thermal performance, the product reduces heat loss through
external walls, improving the energy efficiency and carbon footprint of a
building as part of two advanced timber frame systems that can meet Code for
Sustainable Homes (CfSH) Level 4 and Level 6 respectively. Ideal for use in
Passive House constructions and buildings with mechanical heat recovery systems,
Isover’s timber frame systems can achieve an overall construction U-value down
to 0.14W/m²K.
Previously, 50mm and 90mm thicknesses of Timber Frame Batt 32 were layered in
applications where 140mm of insulation was required. The new 140mm product means
that the same performance level can be achieved in just one layer, saving time
on site, simplifying installation, and ensuring performance in-situ.
Boasting excellent thermal and acoustic insulation for timber walls to help meet
Part L 2010 (England and Wales) and Section 6 (Scotland), Isover 140mm Timber
Frame Batt 32 also boasts a thermal conductivity of up to 0.032 W/mK when
installed on its own.
Tom Foster, Isover’s structural insulation product manager comments: “Offering
our Timber Frame Batt 32 in a 140mm thickness has a number of practical
advantages. As only one layer of insulation has to be installed, the new product
is easier to fit and takes up less storage space on site, improving the time and
cost of installation.
“Installed on its own the product will meet Building Regulations, but when used
with Isover’s Timber Frame system, which incorporates the company’s innovative
Vario air tightness membrane, it can achieve Level 4 and 6 of the Code for
Sustainable Homes requirements and reduce heat loss through the building
envelope to a tenth of the levels in a conventional house.”
Manufactured under a Quality Assurance Scheme in accordance with EN ISO
19001:2008 Isover Timber Frame Batt 32 corresponds to the generic specification
‘Glass wool insulation – density 48 kg/m³ ref 815320004’ which achieves a
summary rating of A+ within Domestic, Health, Industrial, Commercial, Retail and
Education and has a Euroclass A1 fire rating.
Isover offers a range of high performance insulation products designed to meet
thermal, acoustic and fire safety requirements for the built environment. The
company is committed to continuously improving the way in which its products and
processes impact on the natural environment and is the only glass mineral wool
manufacturer to achieve the maximum possible recycled content, 86 per cent,
using recycled glass that would otherwise go to landfill.
The company’s market-leading efficiency means less energy is used in the
manufacturing process and the use of Isover insulation helps to reduce
emissions. Products also boast ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) and GWP (Global
Warming Potential) ratings of zero. Its three point plan for environmental
sustainability ensures that Isover and its products, in manufacture and when
in-situ, use less materials, less energy and produce less emissions.
