Lafarge Plasterboard launches GTEC Wasteline Direct recycling service

Lafarge Plasterboard has re-launched its recycling service as GTEC Wasteline Direct to better help its customers meet increasingly exacting environmental regulations.

GTEC Wasteline Direct is a nationally available recycling service that enables the construction industry to recycle its plasterboard waste through its closed loop recycling system. The waste material is safely removed and, where logistically feasible, the gypsum is recycled back into new plasterboard. No waste recovered through the scheme is land-filled.

The new GTEC Wasteline Direct provides customers with a competitively-priced recycling service which, despite increasing fuel charges, costs up to 40% less than the previous service. The GTEC service also supports Site Waste Management Plans and helps customers gain maximum BREEAM and Code credits in commercial and housing projects by providing electronic reports detailing the amount of waste collected and recycled. These are issued to customers monthly and once a project is completed.

Lafarge Plasterboard is a key player in responsible waste removal and a leading recycler, now responsible for around one third of all closed-loop plasterboard recycling in Britain. Steve Hemmings, Sustainability Manager at Lafarge Plasterboard says: “Reducing waste efficiently is key for us as well as our customers. GTEC Wasteline Direct is an accessible waste management service which demonstrates our commitment to sustainable construction and continuous improvement.
