BDR THERMEA Unveils Biomass & Micro-CHP Solutions For The
Home***Stand E11, Greenbuild Expo, Manchester Central, 29-30 June
2011***
BDR Thermea (formerly Baxi Group) showcases its broad range of low carbon
solutions for new build and social housing developments at this year’s
Greenbuild Expo.
Highlights include the recently launched Baxi Bioflo for biomass projects and
Baxi Ecogen, the only commercially available micro-CHP unit purpose-designed for
the home. Also on display are the recently launched Multifit GasSaver and
Multifit HeatSaver products which provide additional SAP benefits to help meet
Levels 3 & 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes (CfSH) when using a high
efficiency Baxi or Potterton combi boiler. These innovations combine with
domestic and commercial water and space heating technologies from BDR Thermea’s
extensive brand portfolio, supported by the company’s Know-How initiative, to
provide a comprehensive range of system solutions for specifiers.
Baxi Bioflo is designed to help developers meet CfSH Level 4 and comply with the
requirements of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme. This innovative
free-standing, pellet fed boiler can be installed in living areas, making boiler
specification and installation much simpler on new-build and retrofit housing
projects than is possible with traditional biomass solutions. Baxi Bioflo is
especially suited to social housing developments in rural, off mains gas areas
where it can help alleviate fuel poverty issues.
Complying fully with the new requirements of Part L1 of the Building Regulations
(2010, the revolutionary Baxi Ecogen is designed for new build and retrofit
specification, helping developers meet Level 4 in the CfSH and take advantage of
Government funding initiatives, such as, the FiT. Baxi Ecogen installation can
save up to £600 in fuel bills for a typical 4 bed semi detached home and achieve
carbon reductions totalling 3.3 tonnes 2% when replacing a SEDBUK (2005) Band G
boiler.
Designed for use with Baxi and Potterton HE combi boilers, the Multifit GasSaver
is a passive flue gas recovery system which reduces energy usage by up to 37%
and water consumption by up to 7%., It recovers heat from flue gases that would
otherwise be wasted, using it to pre-heat water coming into the boiler from the
cold mains supply. Visitors can see how a Mutlifit HeatSaver package adds a 50l
temporal store to the Multifit GasSaver system, optimising heating and reducing
gas consumption still further.
Other low carbon solutions featured under the BDR Thermea umbrella comprise
technologies from Baxi, Potterton, Heatrae Sadia, Valor, Andrews Water Heaters,
Santon, Elson, Baxi Sener-tec and Potterton Commercial. These include Baxi
Ambiflo™ air source heat pumps and Baxi Geoflo™ ground source heat pumps; Baxi
Solarflo™ thermal water heating systems; Heatrae Sadia hot water storage
cylinders, water heaters and Electromax solar thermal electric water heaters;
and Potterton Commercial Sirrus SAT Heat Box units for district heating system
applications.
Visitors can also find out about the BDR Thermea Know How initiative at
Greenbuild Expo. BDR Thermea Know How is the platform which allows the company
to communicate its unrivalled knowledge of the legislative framework in
specification and its expertise in helping specifiers assess the impact of their
system solution in meeting these requirements. As part of this initiative, Simon
Osborne, BDR Thermea’s Specification Channel Manager will present on the
Building Regulations and the Code for Sustainable Homes at 10 AM on Wednesday
29th June) in the Housing strand of the Greenbuild Expo conference programme.
