BUILD CENTER - Bowled Over By Build Center

Build Center is supporting the future of local cricket clubs across the country by providing discounted construction materials and advice as part of the NatWest CricketForce project.

CricketForce is an England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) initiative which aims to rejuvenate the nation’s cricketing facilities by encouraging supporters to volunteer their time to undertake major renovations to local clubhouses and grounds. Over 1,900 clubs took part in NatWest CricketForce in 2011.

As well as providing loyalty cards for discounted construction supplies, Build Center experts have been visiting cricket clubs across the country to help advise them on the correct materials and tradesmen for their projects.

One of the showcase cricket clubs to have benefited from construction support is Bognor Regis, where Build Center provided discounted materials and free high visibility waistcoats and working gloves for the 50 volunteers undertaking the refurbishment work.

Lee Boddy, branch manager for Build Center in Bognor Regis, explains: “Our previous branch manager actually played for Bognor Cricket Club so we have a very keen interest in its success. I’ve been visiting the ground regularly to see for myself what they are building and planning for the future.

“As well as providing discounted building products, including mortar, bricks, plasterboard, plaster and cement, we also offered the club the services of our lorry and driver over the weekend to help with deliveries in case they needed any additional materials.”

Andrew Cushing, head of marketing for Build Center, who manages the CricketForce relationship nationally, comments: “We are already long term partners with the ECB so we’re delighted to be able to continue to support them through the NatWest CricketForce project, enabling local clubs to benefit from both our expertise and access to competitively priced construction materials. Cricket supporters are giving up their valuable time to help rejuvenate their clubs and we want to do what we can to help improve facilities for the local community and protect the future of local cricket in this country.”
