PLAYGARDEN - No Den-Ying Adventurous Fun From Playgarden

With summer arriving early, children won’t want to miss a moment outdoors and will love nothing more than to build their own play den hideaway to provide all-weather fun and protection from the elements, come rain or shine. The Dens Resource Box, new from Playgarden Design and Resources Ltd, captures the essence of this classic childhood pastime, complete with adventurous new ideas to engage and enhance the learning of youngsters today.

Playgarden, are committed to designing and supplying high quality play spaces and natural play resources for schools and nurseries to ensure that young children have access to the freedom and development borne from outdoor play.

The Playgarden Dens Resource Box is available in Deluxe and Standard formats, each containing a selection of equipment to encourage children to get outdoors and build up their knowledge and understanding of the world. The kit is designed to be flexible rather than prescribed so that children have the freedom to invent, create and play without limits.

The Deluxe Dens Resource Box is made up of 10 innovative frame connectors that encourage children to experiment with new, exciting and challenging structures, it also includes 20 1m bamboo canes, a green tarpaulin, a blue tarpaulin, 109 ball bungees and a camouflage net, ideal for children to create a unique and robust hide out. The Standard Dens Resource Box includes 5 frame connectors, 10 1m bamboo canes, a green tarpaulin, a blur tarpaulin and 10 ball bungees.

Playgarden work closely with early years practitioners to develop outdoor play solutions and outdoor learning space designs that fit in with the curriculum at this crucial early stage of learning. The Dens Resource Box builds upon Early Years Foundation Stage areas of learning and development and is designed to be responsive to children’s needs promoting creative development, utilising their natural play environment to stimulate their appetite and curiosity for learning.

Building a stable den is challenging, children can start by making some of the suggested dens drawn up for them in the kit before they branch out and get creative by making up their own. Using the innovative connectors, bamboo canes and ball bungees to create constructions, children can develop their motor skills whilst the trials and errors of constructing a stable den can help build sound problem solving abilities. Encouraging children to work in a team to construct a den can develop children’s social and communication skills and yet their den does not have to be the hubbub of activity, it can also provide a hideaway for children to reflect aiding their personal and emotional development.

Dens can be adapted to fit into any school or nursery play space design and capture their natural surroundings. Simply use the ball bungees to attach the tarpaulin to trees or buildings in an outdoor learning space or encourage children to use the natural resources they find to decorate their dens such as leaves, sticks or flowers to really make their den their own.
