TOTAL HOME ENVIRONMENT - Total Home Chosen For BBC Property

‘Treetops’, a highly insulated property which will feature in the new BBC series To Build or not to Build, has been specified with Total Home Environment’s Premium and Vanvex systems for heat recovery ventilation, space heating and domestic hot water.

The 400m2 house is a modern, Danish design with an unconventional steel frame, re-enforced concrete floors and steel studwork with an aluminium roof. The decision to install the high quality Premium system was made as the highly insulated property required very little heating.

Total Home Environment’s Premium range combines heat recovery ventilation with heat pump technology to harness energy more efficiently from outgoing air, forming a fundamental part of a low-energy heating solution for the home. A contemporary wood-burning stove and underfloor heating located in the bathrooms of the property have been utilised to provide supplementary heating during the winter months. In the summer, the Premium unit provides fresh, cooled air into the property.

The Vanvex unit is a dedicated, self-contained 285 litre air-to-water appliance that has been installed to use the energy from the outside air to heat the domestic hot water independently of the ventilation heating system.

Also installed at the property is a whole house central vacuum system from Total Home Environment, making it easy to keep the prestigious property clean and ensuring a healthier living space.

Homeowner Peter Chalke has been impressed with both the system and the level of service from the company, as he explains, “Total Home Environment is a friendly firm and I found dealing with them very easy. After previously working as a timber supplier for many years, sourcing timber from Denmark and also owning a property in the country, Peter has chosen to use Danish-made products for the majority of fixture and fittings, kitchen, bathrooms, lights, floors, windows and doors in the property due to the country’s reputation for high quality of manufacture.
Peter is now anticipating an extremely low energy bill and has already benefited from the improved air quality as the air entering the home is filtered and changed regularly, easing the asthma symptoms suffered by Peter’s daughter as she has found it easier to breath when visiting the family home.
