TROX UK Celebrates Training Successes
Thetford-based company TROX UK has celebrated training successes across its
workforce with the presentation of certificates to 28 employees.
The certificates recognise the proficiency of TROX personnel in internationally
recognised Six Sigma business improvement techniques, employed by the world’s
leading manufacturers.
Peter Johnson, Production Director of TROX UK, and Aidan Bourke of XR Training,
presented Yellow Belt Six Sigma certificates (NVQ Level 2 Business Improvement
Techniques) to fifteen employees in total. These were William Fogg, Terence
Loram, Clifford Roper, Robert O’Connell, Tom Makereth, David Baker, Christopher
Andrews, Douglas Panter, Anthony Inns, Aaron Steggles, John McVeigh, Brian Holt,
Anthony Nurse, Simon Davis and Colin Wellard.
Presenting certificates to the 13 employees who had achieved the next level of
proficiency – Green Belt Six Sigma – were Ian Sams, Chief Operating Officer of
TROX UK, and Mark Fidell of training company Smallpeice Enterprises. The
employees achieving these qualifications were Tom Smith, Simon Fields, Luke
McCartney, Martin Pearson, Daryl Hall, Lee Daniels, Ray Calver, Michael Burt,
Juergen Dieris, James Tibbetts, John Beaumont, James Sheldrake and Jermaine
Calver.
TROX has a long history of employee development at its Thetford site, and has
continued to invest heavily in training despite the turndown in the wider
economic climate. The company is a leading international manufacturer of
equipment for air conditioning and ventilation of buildings. The site, in Caxton
Way, Thetford, is the TROX group’s global centre of excellence for design and
manufacture of chilled beams and fan coils.
David Rice, Health and Safety, ISO Manager for TROX commented, “Employee
training is a ‘must do’ for a successful company. It is a critical factor in
enhancing the company’s ability to compete in a global market”.
“We aim to give all or our employees the opportunities to succeed. Our vision is
that all of our employees that do not have formal qualifications will be given
the chance to work towards an NVQ Level 2 or higher for their job requirement.
And development of employees goes right through the organisation, from
school-leavers on our apprenticeship programme, to leadership training for
managers.”
As well as developing skills in manufacturing and safe working, TROX helps
employees to build skills for specific functions, such as purchasing, project
management, administration and logistics, with courses delivered in the
Company’s in-house multi-media Training Facility
The Six Sigma business management strategy – which originated in the USA in the
1980’s is helping leading manufacturers worldwide to improve quality and
productivity. The expertise in these techniques throughout the TROX workforce,
has already led to successful waste reduction projects and is a key factor in
TROX’s ability to remain buoyant during challenging trading conditions.
