SIKA SARNAFIL - Solar & Sarnafil Roofing Solutions – The Perfect
Pairing
Sika Sarnafil is encouraging building owners and developers to partner solar
technology with a proven, high-performance roofing system to safeguard their
investment and maximise a roof’s overall performance.
“More and more owners/developers are looking to capitalise on the energy- and
revenue-generating potential of their roof space by investing in solar
technology,” says the company’s head of technical, Phil Jarratt. “Therefore,
anyone undertaking a new build or refurbishment should consider solar as a
viable option. Although the Government feed-in tariff for PV installations over
50kWp could be cut this August pending its review, the proposals will still
allow for a typical roof refurbishment fitted with solar PV, and including
thermal upgrade, to pay for itself in a relatively short period. However,
there’s no point in making the investment in solar without investing in the
overall performance and lifespan of a roof – and that’s where we can help.”
With this in mind, the Sarnafil system now benefits from a comprehensive range
of solar roofing solutions – from the newly added Solyndra solar system, white
solar reflective membrane to the Sarnafil Solar Support Post – as part of its
commitment to providing roofing solutions to accommodate most available solar PV
and solar thermal systems.
Now a platinum Solyndra solution provider, the company has teamed up with a
number of specialist suppliers to ensure its Sarnafil single ply roofing system
is fully compatible with the latest solar solutions. This includes an exclusive
new working relationship with renewable energy solutions specialist Renewable
Resources, further strengthening its solar supply chain, which already spans
Photovoltaic (PV), solar thermal and cool roofs.
Suitable for both new-build and refurbishment projects, Phil says Solyndra
offers maximum return on investment. “This couples our specially manufactured
white solar reflective membrane – which boasts the highest CIGS solar
reflectance factor on the market of 95 percent – with cylindrical solar modules.
As a result, a Solyndra system is capable of harvesting 360 degrees of sunlight
– direct, diffused and reflected – significantly increasing the amount of power
generated per square metre of useable roof space compared to conventional rigid
flat PV panels. This represents maximum return on a solar investment.”
What’s more, with the Sarnafil system benefiting from a BBA-certified life
expectancy ‘in excess of 40 years’, and with guarantees available up to 25
years, customers can be confident their solar investment is protected by a
proven roofing solution that offers unbeatable longevity and a strong
environmental performance.
“Investing in solar but not the roof as a whole is, quite simply, a false
economy,” Phil adds. “But by coupling solar with our market-leading roofing
system and ancillary products, you can be sure your investment is secured, is
very bankable and adds value – vital given that solar is the world’s fastest
growing renewable energy source.”
