KOMFORT WORKSPACE - Brian Pike Of Komfort Workspace Receives First MBE For The Interiors Construction Industry Sector

Brian Pike, Komfort’s Head of Technical and Design was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Honours Birthday List. Brian was nominated for his MBE by the AIS, Association of Interior Specialists for his involvement over the last 21 years with the Partitioning Interiors Association (PIA) and now the AIS. Brian has served on various committees for both Associations, including training committees, technical committees, CITB NVQ Industry Working Group and City & Guilds NVQ Working Group.

The British honours system is one of the oldest in the world. It has evolved over 650 years as the country has found alternative means of recognising merit, gallantry and service.

An MBE is the Most Excellent order of the British Empire. The award is an order of chivalry that was established by King George V in 1917 to fill the gaps in the British Honours System. The honour is awarded by the King or Queen for a particular achievement and to people from all walks of life and society who have made a real difference to their community.

Honours lists are published twice a year at New Year and in mid-June on the date of The Queen's official birthday. Brian Pike was awarded his Order for services to the construction industry.

During the last twenty five years, Brian’s knowledge of UK and European building regulations has enabled him to detail technical developments within construction that has saved lives. Demountable partitions with enhanced structural, fire and acoustic performance characteristics have been developed that will increase escape time should a commercial building catch on fire.

Brian’s Order was also in recognition of the large amount of time he has volunteered to improvements in the construction industry and he is recognised as an ambassador for the commercial interiors industry.

Brian was stunned with the award; “this is the first MBE for our sector of the construction industry so this is an incredible honour that I will always hold very dear”.
