CMS ACOUSTICS - Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa Celebrates Its Silver Anniversary With Regupol 4515 Multi

Regupol 4515 Multi, the high performance and sustainable acoustic underlay from CMS Acoustics, has been installed at the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa in Edinburgh to provide superior impact sound attenuation in all guestrooms. Undertaking the interior refurbishment as part of the hotel’s silver anniversary, NGP Architects specified the PUR and cork acoustic material beneath Amtico wood flooring working to Part E requirements.

In its 25th year of delivering impeccable customer service to its guests, the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa was subject to an extensive renovation that would award a more contemporary, sleek and streamlined design. With the view of incorporating a wood floor finish in all guestrooms, NGP Architects identified that high levels of traffic throughout the development would generate excess impact sound transfer between floors.

To exceed Part E Building Regulations, the five-star hotel required a robust acoustic treatment that would significantly reduce noise transfer. NGP Architects therefore specified 4,200m² of 4.5mm Regupol 4515 Multi to deliver a maximum impact sound transmission of 48dB. Applied under Amtico flooring panels to 269 guestrooms spanning five storeys, the flexible acoustic underlay provides exceptional impact energy dampening under any floor finish by effectively attenuating the sound at source.

A major concern in the multi-million hotel refurbishment was that the acoustic treatment could be applied without compromise to the original room heights. Available in 3mm and 4.5mm thicknesses from CMS Acoustics, the UK’s largest supplier of acoustic solutions, Regupol 4515 Multi helps to maintain floor to ceiling heights while delivering the necessary acoustic performance levels. Furthermore, by facilitating a quick and simple installation, the acoustic treatment could be easily integrated into the overall build programme to help meet tight construction schedules.

Regupol 4515 Multi substantially dampened impact noise even under challenging Amtico wood flooring, helping us to ensure guests would get a quiet night’s sleep.”

Recycled and recyclable, Regupol 4515 Multi offers an environmentally-friendly solution to impact energy insulation. Registering zero Global Warming Potential (GWP) and zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP), the acoustic material contributes towards stringent Code for Sustainable Homes (CFSH) guidelines. Resistant to rot and deformation, it maintains superior performance for the lifetime of the installation.

Bonded directly to the subfloor, Regupol 4515 Multi is compatible with all floor types. Supplied in easy to handle rolls, the acoustic material can be cut to size to accommodate any requirements.
