S & P COIL PRODUCTS LTD - A More Inspired Way To Cool & Heat
Your Building....With Energy & Carbon Savings Of Up To 20%
S & P Coil Products Ltd (SPC) can offer a more inspired way to cool and heat a
building…with their low carbon radiant conditioning system, that offers
significant savings over conventional systems. To highlight the system
considerations and benefits SPC have launched a handbook, giving a description,
design criteria, information on controls and environmental considerations
(available to download at www.renewables.spcoils.co.uk).
The system uses radiant heat transfer to cool or heat a space using stylish and
highly efficient sails that can be blended into the ceiling – or turned into
striking design features. Combined with industry leading reversible heat pumps
the system provides an effective low-carbon alternative to conventional systems.
Features include easy installation and maintenance, gaining BREEAM points, no
air movement noise, options for integrated lighting features and F gas
regulations for servicing of equipment are minimised due to low refrigerant
mass.
Warwick Taylor, Managing Director for S & P Coil Products said,
“Radiant conditioning systems employ radiant heat transfer to cool or heat
spaces in an energy efficient manner. They achieve this by indirect
cooling/heating of the air and direct cooling/heating of the objects within the
space.
A radiant conditioning system uses an array of radiant sails/panels mounted
close to the ceiling. The lower surfaces of the panel are held at a lower or
higher temperature than the surfaces of the room. Radiant exchange between the
surfaces and the underside of the panels occurs as a result of these temperature
differences. Space air is indirectly cooled/heated by convection across the
room’s surface”.
Bill Barlow, External Sales Manager for S & P Coil Products said
“Compared to competing systems which rely almost entirely on convection to
directly condition space air, air movement is minimised along with the vertical
temperature gradient.
Perhaps the major benefit of the radiant system is the reduction in space heat
gains/losses resulting from the comfort achieved at higher space temperatures in
cooling mode and lower space temperatures in heating mode”.
The system is key in meeting legal requirements and government targets of a 35%
reduction in CO² by 2020, leading to a net benefit to the UK of at least £4
billion.
