Spanwright Flooring have embraced the growing trend towards modern methods of
construction (MMC) by offering a range of innovative precast, pre-stressed and
reinforced concrete products which can be used to reduce construction time and
promote sustainable development, as well as offering the developer significant
cost savings.
In recent years there has been a real shift from using traditional concreting
methods, as the benefits of precast concrete and MMC are recognised and grow in
popularity. The advantages of precast are clear, faster erection time, the
superior quality of the result, and the lifetime energy efficiencies from the
thermal mass of the concrete. Precast concrete is seen by many as the best
commercial solution for bespoke concrete work.
Structural Precast Manager, Gareth McMeekin said:
“The benefits of using precast concrete are well known, but selecting the most
appropriate product for each project is often more difficult. For example,
reinforced precast concrete floors are more economic for shorter floor spans and
light loading situations, e.g. Housing / residential construction, whereas
prestressed flooring units can span longer distances and take heavier loads,
making them more suited for commercial construction projects.

have written the article to highlight the many advantages of using precast in
construction”
