JELD-WEN - FD60 Flat Entrance Doors Soar In Popularity

JELD-WEN has seen a huge amount of interest in its new 60-minute fire-rated flat entrance doorset (FD60), that was introduced earlier this year to meet the growing demand from social housing providers who want to offer even better fire protection to residents.

The FD60 SecureFit Entrance Doorset was the latest addition to JELD-WEN’s popular SecureFit range, which includes the popular FD30 fire-rated entrance door for flats and apartments.

Chris Miller, Product Manager for JELD-WEN, said: “Local authorities and their refurbishment contractors are ever more aware of the need to enhance fire safety, especially in high rise blocks and these flat entrance doors are designed to offer the best possible protection to occupants. Following a number of high profile cases where there were injuries and deaths to occupants in the event of a fire, specifiers are recognising that by specifying flat entrance doorsets with 60 minutes’ fire protection occupants have a much greater chance of escape.”

JELD-WEN’s new FD60 SecureFit Flat entrance doorsets are available in attractive real wood veneers, including ash, oak and beech. The 54mm thick doors also meet with Secured by Design accreditation, which is the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) approved standard for doorsets that offer greater protection against break-ins, via a high quality multi-point locking system and robust construction. As an added security measure the door also has a viewer fitted as standard.

The SecureFit range has been particularly popular with specifiers and developers because it is simple and straightforward to fit, keeping installation time to a minimum. Each doorset comes ready supplied with the hinges, handles, lock and keep, plus a choice of gold or silver effect for the viewer, handles and hinges to suit project requirements.

JELD-WEN’s SecureFit entrance doorsets are supplied with an adjustable acoustic drop seal to the bottom of the door and have a concealed solid and reliable fixing system through the frame into the wall, which is a requirement for fire resistant doors.

All doors are hung on 1.5 pairs of steel hinges which are CE certified. The doors are hung in a hardwood frame and with smoke and intumescent seals integrated into the head and two jambs.

The core construction, 54mm door thickness, acoustic seals and drop down seals assist the product in compliance with acoustic regulations, where apartment entrance doors are required to have a sound reduction index of 29dBRw.*
