GENT Launches New CPD Course For Wireless Systems

Fire Industry expert Gent by Honeywell is releasing a new CPD guide to look at what considerations need to be made when selecting radio linked fire alarm systems. The CPD approved course will address all of the key issues around installing a fire detection system that relies on wire free technology to link the component parts.

The CPD guide is part of a series of technical seminars produced by Gent, aimed at raising the knowledge base of professionals in the industry. Each seminar focuses on a particular subject area and this new guide has been devised for designers and consultants to gain a better understanding of applications that may be suitable for installing wire free systems.

The latest CPD brochure and presentation entitled ‘What? No Wires!’, will also take a close look at the current legislation and standards, including the requirements and the differences between the European Product or ‘build’ Standard of EN54 part 25, as well as the parts of BS5839-Part 1:2002 that cover design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of these ‘wireless’ or radio systems.

The course has been created to help designers understand the various options and to select the best system for a particular application. It will provide a comprehensive guide, which cover several useful elements, including overall life cycle costs, technical considerations such as battery life expectancy, frequency bands and communication methods to a designers’ guide to some of today’s solutions.

There will be also be a comparison between three common radio based solutions on the course. Gent’s forthcoming wireless system, which works using a unique type of web technology between all devices will be examined, alongside solutions that use simple single or bi-directional systems and solutions which are bi-directional with transceiver web technology.
