FORTICRETE'S Gemini Provides The Answer For Barratt West Midlands

Forticrete's award winning EcoPlus Gemini roof tile has been specified by Barratt West Midlands to compliment the local vernacular of its new Waters Edge development on Mart Lane, Stourport.

The picturesque canal side development, which comprises of a range of one and two-bedroom apartments and three-bedroom houses, was carefully designed to ensure it blended seamlessly with the surrounding area.

After consulting local planners, Barratt West Midlands decided upon Forticrete's innovative twin interlocking plan tile in Sunrise Blend as the ideal solution.

John Lambert, Director and General Manager at Forticrete commented: "Originally, Barratt West Midlands considered plain tiles for the development, however after the solution they specified was discontinued, they decided that due to current market conditions, a more cost-effective solution was required. Furthermore, they sought a product that provided considerable ease of use and an aesthetically pleasing finish, while still maintaining the appearance of a traditional plain tile.

"The Forticrete Gemini roof tile ticked all the boxes and provided the ideal alternative. Not only are they cheaper than plain tiles, but they are available in mix of different shades which perfectly compliments the developments' surrounding environment. The finish provided by the tile is exceptional."

Forticrete's Gemini interlocking plain tiles have been specifically designed to replicate the look and feel of traditional plain tiles, maintaining the appearance of a traditional plain tile roof.

They have 50% less CO2 emissions per m2 roof and improved coverage, using less tiles per m2 making it a much more cost effective solution. The roof tiling solution features increased tile strength and an even stronger, tighter interlock as standard and because they are so simple to install, the cost to lay them is also significantly reduced.

As well as being extremely energy efficient, these next generation roofs tiles are aesthetically pleasing, easy-to-install and high in quality. They have been specifically designed as interlocking tiles which are just 270mm x 337mm overall, yet because of a carefully judged central groove and innovative 'double cambered' design, they have the appearance of two traditional plain tiles side by side when laid, effectively laying two tiles at a time.
