IBSTOCK Swanage Bricks Provide Unique Finish For Kimcote Hall

Bespoke hand-made red multi-coloured facing bricks from Ibstock, the UK's largest brickmaker, have been used to create a distinctive Code 4 compliant traditionally inspired dwelling at Kimcote Hall, Leicestershire.

Kimcote Hall has been designed to incorporate both High Victorian style and modern relief elements and utilises bespoke hand-made Swanage Red Multi bricks from Ibstock, laid in a Flemish bond with strong plinth detail firmly grounding the building, to produce a unique building bursting with character.

Chris Beighton, property owner, commented: "When specifying bricks for Kimcote Hall we wanted a solution that would not only prove to be highly durable, but one that has an individual finish and would lend itself to the distinct modern-Victorian vernacular.

"We knew that Ibstock's Swanage factory offered a comprehensive selection of bespoke blends which, as well as enabling easier brick matching, especially to older brickwork, would help us to create a building with a characteristic and attractive appearance.

"As such, we turned to Ibstock to help us create our own bespoke blend, even going as far as to selecting a specific handmaker to ensure our bricks were all thrown in a unique way. The end result is a collection of bricks which lend their own individual character perfectly, developing a warmth and integrity found only in true handmade bricks - we couldn't be happier with the final finish."

Blended by hand, traditional Swanage bricks include authentic imperials for restoration or refurbishment projects, especially those in conservation-sensitive areas, and grey-glazed headers characteristic of many houses in the Wealden area of the South East.
