CEMBRIT - Help Is At Hand With Cembrit

Cembrit, specialist in natural and fibre cement slates, has supplied several thousand Jutland slates to a £9 million state of the art nursing home in Cardiff. The blue/black slates were installed by Camilleri Roofing, and have created a high quality and neat looking finish to the new facility.

Designed by Boys Rees Architect, Ty Catrin Hospital is a 44 bed mental health rehabilitation hospital in Cardiff. Funding for the project was achieved when Chessmann Consulting joined forces with Pastoral Cymru Ltd, the leading independent provider of specialist mental health services in Wales and South West England’s. The 30,000 blue black Jutland slates were used on this 40° pitched roof which covers 2210m².

“We have worked with Cembrit on many jobs before, especially with the Jutland slate range, and we find them easy to work with” explains Marco Camilleri at Camilleri Roofing. “Cembrit has a wide variety of slates available, all with the appropriate accreditations, which means we can specify them with confidence, and we know Cembrit will supply quality slates on time, from their regional depot in Glamorgan.“

Jutland slates are compatible with the most common building materials and are available in a variety of colours and sizes. Matching accessories and fixings are available from Cembrit. They are finished with a high quality, semi-matt acrylic coating which is applied to both faces and all edges. They are manufactured in accordance with a quality assurance system to ISO 9001 and to the requirements of BS EN 492 product specification for fibre cement slates and their fittings. Made in line with these high standards, Jutland Slates are a good, cost-effective alternative to natural slate roofing for all types of public and private sector building projects.

Using skills built up over 80 years, Cembrit select natural slate from Spain, Canada, Brazil, China, India and the countries of Western Europe. From UK quarries Cembrit offer Welsh, Cornish and Westmorland slates. Quality levels at Group factories are rigorously maintained to high standards with fibre cement slates produced to BS EN 492:2004 and manufactured under the control of a BS EN ISO 9001: 2000 quality management system. Furthermore the company operates an environmental management system to ISO 14001:1996.
