OWA Celebrates Major Investments In China

The heart of OWA’s suspended ceilings manufacturing remains in Bavaria, but recent investments in production facilities in China reflect the company’s growing capabilities in the region, and the international dynamism of OWA. A group of key customers from the UK and Ireland joined the party to celebrate the opening of a new metal ceilings plant, and to see new technological investments in the production of ceiling suspension systems. They joined a group of around 150 customers and staff from around the world, with 24 countries represented.

Dancing dragons, fire crackers, a local TV film crew, together with senior local government politicians, greeted the four coach loads of visitors, and provided a spectacular opening ceremony for the new metal ceiling plant at Zhenjiang, near Nanjing. Dirk Rogge, Managing Partner of OWA group, offered warm congratulations to those involved in the project.

OWA has been manufacturing metal products in China since 2005. The new metal ceilings production facility combines OWA know-how with the latest German engineering and design, to create precision metal ceiling systems for modern commercial buildings. The OWAtecta brand of metal ceilings is growing in popularity in many countries. The new factory replaces the former facility, which supplied a project of around 5000m2 of metal ceilings to Johannesburg airport, completed in time for the 2010 World Cup finals.

A new investment and innovation was also witnessed at the latest OWAconstruct suspension system plant at Songjiang, near Shanghai. The new suspension grid systems present OWA and its customers with the latest technologies, and feature a special ‘click’ connection to meet the demands of this type of system across the world. The investments and design followed an intense research and development project to create a world leading grid system. OWAconstruct Cliq will soon be launched in the UK and Ireland.
