POLYFLOR Features In Hospital Refurbishment

Leading commercial vinyl flooring manufacturer, Polyflor, has supplied 1600m² of flooring for the Robin Pinto Two Mental Health Unit in Luton.

The new flooring forms part of a modernisation programme carried out by the local service provider of mental health services, South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (SEPT).

Polysafe Wood FX PUR, Forest FX PUR and Polysafe Corona PUR were installed in various areas to help provide patients with a new, refurbished environment conducive to rehabilitation.

Les Read from Kingfisher Flooring in Bedfordshire oversaw the installation: “The flooring needed to have the necessary aesthetic quality to complement the rest of the refurbishment.

“The trio of flooring products met the design brief and provided the slip resistance, maintenance and hygiene benefits required of a busy hospital unit.”

All three Polyflor products installed feature Polyflor’s unique, cross linked and UV cured polyurethane reinforcement for advanced maintenance benefits, optimum appearance, colour retention and improved soil release. This cutting edge PUR technology means that significant life cycle maintenance cost savings are achievable over a 15 year period when compared to untreated flooring.

Polysafe Wood FX PUR and Corona PUR fully comply with HSE and UK Slip Group Guidelines to give sustainable slip resistance throughout their guaranteed life, achieving 36+ on the Pendulum wet test (Slider 96/Four S rubber) with a surface roughness of 20 microns and above. Both ranges also adhere to EN 13845 – the European standard for safety flooring.

Forest FX PUR features a sophisticated, highly realistic wood design and with a 0.7mm wearlayer for excellent durability, is ideally suited to high traffic applications.

The unit was officially reopened by Cllr Mahmood Hussain, who added: “This is a hugely enhanced facility and the environment has been improved 100 percent. This facility provides vulnerable people suffering from mental ill health with a better starting point than they would otherwise have had and will really help people recover and live a full and normal life.”
