VENTROLLA Restores Doncaster’s Historic Council Offices

Sash window specialist Ventrolla South Yorkshire has managed to save part of Grade II listed building Mansion House from losing its character by carrying out a successful sash window restoration project.

Currently used as Doncaster’s council offices, Mansion House officials chose to use Ventrolla after they were recommended by local conservation specialists who were keen to maintain the property’s original features and appearance.

Ventrolla renovated four sash windows by installing the Ventrolla Perimeter Sealing System (VPSS), which improves the energy efficiency of sash windows by eliminating draught and rattles. Following consultations with conservation specialists and Ventrolla, it became clear it would be possible to save the sash windows by renovating, despite initial fears they would need to replaced.

Jim McDonagh, Joinery Painting Supervisor for Mansion House, said “We were more than satisfied with the fantastic service provided by Ventrolla. Before speaking with the conservation specialists we thought we would have to replace the windows completely.

“We’re so pleased that Ventrolla were instead able to restore them back to their rightful condition which, considering the age of the building, is of great importance to us”.

Jim added, “Ventrolla carried out the renovation quickly and efficiently, and the renovated windows have enhanced the look of the property.”

Built by architect William Hurst in 1832, the Grade II listed building is part of the town’s Mansion House and is prominently positioned on Doncaster’s main high street. It is one of only four surviving civic Mansion Houses in the country.

Ventrolla offers a bespoke renovation service for timber sliding sash and casement windows as well as timber doors. The company has its central office in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, with additional offices throughout the UK and Ireland.
