Hanson UK has produced a comprehensive guide to
Thermaliteaircrete blocks which is set to become the leading
reference source for the specifier.
This technical manual details Thermalite’s sustainability
credentials and product performance highlighting how the
range can help meet all current Building Regulations and
legislation such as the Code for Sustainable Homes (CfSH)
and Part L.
Thermalite blocks contain up to 80 per cent recycled content
and can be used in a wide variety of applications from
foundations, floors and partitions to separating and
external walls. They feature millions of tiny pockets of
trapped air giving them high thermal performance and sound
insulation, good compressive strength, lightness for
handling, moisture resistance and thermal mass.
The Thermalite range of aircrete blocks has been helping
specifiers meet the demands of building regulation for
nearly 60 years. It offers cost-effective solutions to meet
current and future Part L requirements including guidance on
linear thermal bridging and the new guide provides over 900
U-value calculations for the three most common construction
types – full fill, partial fill and solid wall – creating a
valuable reference source.
Thermalite also helps meet all levels of the CfSH, securing
valuable credits across the energy, materials and health and
well-being categories.
“The whole lifecycle of Thermalite blocks has sustainability
at its core,” said Chris Hornby, head of product services.
“From their manufacture and delivery through to design,
construction and re-use, Thermalite blocks are inherently
sustainable.
“With increasing Building Regulations and environmental
legislation it is more important than ever that clear,
concise information is available on building products and
their performance.
“Our new guide has been designed to be user-friendly and
become an essential reference source for specifiers.”
