Vinyl Tiles - Vinyl Flooring - Flooring Products - Wood Tiles
Luxury vinyl tiles from Tarkett have been installed at
the College of St Hild and St Bede, the largest college at
Durham University. The original building of St Hild’s
College dates to 1857 and now houses 163 students, along
with the main administrative and student support services.
The main reception and principle circulation areas have
recently been refurbished, complete with new wood-effect
flooring from Tarkett.
Aiken Flooring Contracts carried out the installations, as
Contracts Manager Steve Dixon explains: “When we lifted the
existing materials, we discovered areas of cork, asphalt and
multiple layers of foam backing and screed which required
extensive work to get the floors into a suitable state to
lay on. The plank format of the Tarkett flooring meant it
was really easy to install, being more flexible and easier
to handle than large rolls. We also installed a two-plank
border throughout which looks very effective.”
Designed for heavy duty use in environments such as the
hotel, leisure and retail markets, Tarkett’s ID Premier
range allows the flooring to work with the overall interior
design, providing a bold statement or playing a more subtle,
supporting role. But the aesthetics are only half the story,
with function being vital too. Floors in busy stores and
hotels need lasting strength to cope with heavy daily foot
traffic, particularly near entrances.
Tarkett’s ID Premier features a 0.7mm or a 0.5mm pure PVC
transparent wear layer, which is exceptionally hardwearing
and indentation resistant. The TopClean XP PUR reinforcement
offers extreme resistance to abrasion as well as easy
low-cost maintenance, requiring no wax or polish for life.
While the unique composite glass fibre-reinforced structure
provides additional dimensional stability, toughness and
durability.
The ID Premier range includes a wealth of authentic images
from nature including the subtle grains of wood, the
textures of raw stone, marble and granite, and the vibrancy
of bright colours and realistic photographic options. All
tiles and planks are 2.5mm thick, with bevelled edges to
create a truly realistic finish to the floor. The choice of
wide or narrow planks or tiles enables creative combinations
of size, shade and image styles to suit any interior.
