Eaton-Williams - Colman Targets Data Centre Hot Spots With Fan Assisted Floor Grille That Offers Plug & Play Connectivity

Colman part of the Eaton-Williams Group www.eaton-williams.com has developed an innovative fan assisted floor grille to deal with hot spots and the occasional higher heat density rack.

The TJF fan assisted floor grille has been designed specifically for use in raised access floors and the fans can be adjusted so that cool air is delivered to the rack where it is most needed.

The TJF is a standard 600mm x 600mm, fitted with a 230V supply as standard offering simple plug and play connectivity.

Design Characteristics
• Directional control fans. This flexible approach allows the volume of cool air to be directed precisely were required.
• Fan array can be switched on/off in banks of two to suite the heat density of each individual rack.
• Can be supplied as half fan assisted and half standard static floor grille with a volume control damper.
• The TJF can deliver airflow to those areas with low or zero floor void pressure.
• The TJF can be re-sited to suite changes in room layout.
• Available as a standard plug-in 230V AC supply.

Construction
The floor grille is constructed from high grade aluminium extrusion to EN 755-9:2001
The thick outer framework is mitred and specially welded to form a robust and rigid frame

The core comprises of 6mm thick aluminium bars set straight on a 12.5mm pitch, with the blades fully supported on the sides and across the grille centre. The Corner sections are designed to accommodate most floor pedestal systems and tile thickness from 30mm - 90mm including the final finish covering

The fan casing design is constructed with sheet steel and lined with a closed cell gasket seal to prevent recirculation of cool air. The manually rotating trays enabling the fans to tilt towards the rack can be locked in position.

Finishes
The floor grille is supplied in a standard natural finish, although alternative finishes in Nylon coatings, Polyester Powder in matt or gloss is also available. Additionally, there is a special option of a Shadow Line finish.

In addition to the fan assisted floor grille, Colman also manufacture Medium (TJM) and Heavy/Extra Heavy (TJH) grade floor grilles complete with volume control dampers. These are also constructed from high grade aluminium extrusion and are available with a galvanised or aluminium Opposed blade volume control.
