The workspace launch event in the center of the South East

Two well known champions of sustainability in workspace design, Advanced Ergonomic Technologies (AET) and Business Environments (BE) have joined forces to host an interiors exhibition designed to appeal to anyone involved in the use or design of office space at The Center in East Grinstead from 10am to 8pm on June 20, 21 and 22.

Architects, interior designers, facilities managers, commercial property surveyors and end-users are invited to attend ‘The Workspace’ and hear prominent speakers within the commercial workspace world talk about design and the benefits of a fully flexible environment. Attendees will be able to view a display of components that have been specifically selected for their flexibility, reusability and sustainability and meet like minded people whilst enjoying a bite to eat and a glass or two of wine.

Managing director of AET, Glan Blake Thomas, says, “Sustainability is at last becoming a real factor when considering the objectives of commercial workspace design. We are beginning to realise that the world offers us finite resources to work with and that a ‘throw away’ culture is now not just seen to be unfashionable, but is actually perceived as bordering on the immoral.

“We must protect the future of our planet and those of us involved in workspace design have a real opportunity to reduce the amount of waste in this area. The demands on working space do change and we can do nothing about that, but what we can do, however, is to change the way we plan for and so react to those changes.”

Peter Taylor, managing director of BE, continues, “The high cost of churn and running a commercial building (both financial and in terms of embodied energy consumption and day to day use) must be taken into account when planning a fit-out. By selecting modular components which may be reused as and when circumstances change, waste in both these areas will be reduced dramatically.”

To demonstrate these ideals, ‘The Workspace’ launch event will incorporate a hands-on display of modular designs in furniture (including Herman Miller’s modular and incredibly versatile Abak furniture range), Movinord partitioning, Nesite raised access flooring, Hiross Flexible Space underfloor air conditioning and Electropatent power distribution systems.

Speakers will include Mick Dalton, chairman of the BIFM (British Institute of Facilities Managers); Andrew Wilkes, design consultant and a judge at the recent BCO (British Council for Offices) Awards and Pedro Eslava, marketing director of Movinord who will talk about demountable partitioning, not just for offices but also in healthcare, education and industry. All visitors to the event will have the opportunity to win a stunning Herman Miller Celle chair.

‘The Workspace’ launch event is free to attend and will be held at The Center, 201 London Road, East Grinstead, RH19 1HA. For further information visit www.businessenvironments.co.uk or call AET direct on 01342 310 400.
