Jackson Building Services first past the post with Newmarket Racecourse scheme

Jackson Building Services has secured a major project at the world-renowned NatWest Rowley Mile racecourse at Newmarket. The project, at the historical home of British horseracing, will see Jackson carry out a fast track programme to improve access to the Head-On Stand prior to the commencement of the new racing season at the end of September.

Working within a strictly limited timeframe, Jackson will carry out demolition works to remove and replace the existing open-air concrete staircase at the grandstand. A curtain walled extension will then be constructed around the new staircase and a new eight-person lift installed to further enhance accessibility at the racecourse. Electrical systems will be up rated and new lighting installed within the glass extension, with the project due for completion by mid-September, when the season reconvenes on the Natwest Rowley Mile course.

Michael Manning, construction director for Jackson Building Services, commented: "With timing being such a crucial factor within the project, our ability to demonstrate a wealth of experience successfully delivering fast track programmes undoubtedly played an important role in securing this latest contract award."
