Evac+Chair expands as after-sales service flourishes

Evac+Chair International has expanded its after-sales service department as the business continues to witness huge growth.

The company has appointed Andrew Blore as service engineer to support its Servicare team, which handles the maintenance of 6,500 of its Evac+Chairs on an annual contract basis. This figure is rising consistently at the rate of 15% a year, which the company attributes to the popularity of the Evac+Chair as a solution for the safe evacuation of the mobility impaired, and to the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).

Barry Scholes, managing director of Evac+Chair explained, “ Legally you must make adequate provisions for the evacuation of staff with disabilities and mobility problems. This does not just mean providing the right equipment but it also means ensuring the equipment receives the correct maintenance so that it remains in good working order. Therefore finding a company that can offer both makes sense.”

Evac+Chair International has been at the forefront of disabled emergency evacuation for many years. It offers a total ‘turn-key’ solution from site surveys and the manufacture and supply of the evacuation chair through to training and servicing.

The Evac+Chair is designed to provide a safe, secure and fast means of getting the disabled and mobility impaired speedily and safely out of any building from any level. The chair uses continuous rotating v-belts to provide a smooth, controlled descent down stairways, enabling a single user to evacuate a person with mobility difficulties without the need for lifting. It also offers a cost-effective solution, as there is no need to alter the fabric of the building.
