Radio Lollipop back on track with Marley Floors

When Great Ormond Street acquired a disused tube train from TFL, the challenge was thrown down to source a suitable floorcovering! Marley Floors came up with the solution for the project, which was managed by Radio Lollipop in conjunction with Great Ormond Street Hospital’s fund raising department, to imaginatively convert the train into a radio studio and play area.

Sited in the courtyard of Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, the conversion needed to be sympathetic to the hospital environment, with an interior that met exacting design standards. Says Sue Hunter of Hunter Design Associates, who was responsible for the interior design: “We approached Marley Floors and their design studio Floorcraft with a view to incorporate the Radio Lollipop logo into the floor covering. The Eclipse range was selected not only for its suitability to a healthcare environment but also for the large range of bright colours available.”

The Eclipse range of heavy-duty floorcoverings is ideal for demanding locations such as hospitals. The specialist Pro-Tech polyurethane reinforcement (PUR) provides even greater protection against scratching and scuffing. In addition, Eclipse PUR can be used with a ‘no polish’ machine maintenance programme that reduces the overall life cycle costs for the flooring whilst maintaining its looks. A wide colour choice and ability to incorporate logos and design features lends itself perfectly to highly visual interior design projects.

With a colour palette of 28 colours, the range allows designers greater scope in creating bespoke designs. This was particularly relevant to Hunter Design Associates, as they wanted a warm and non-threatening environment for the children. Specified in Amethyst Purple, Chilli Red and Ice, the vibrant colour scheme of the floorcovering creates a bold and imaginative interior for this highly unusual conversion.
