Architect wins knockout prize

A Cambridge-based architect has won a knockout prize in a contest organised by ceilings manufacturer, British Gypsum.

The contest was organised to pit the many benefits of relative newcomer, Arteco Casoprano tiles against the old lightweight champion, mineral fibre tiles. The outcome was a foregone conclusion, with Casoprano getting the judges’ points in every one of the 6 rounds, each of which focussed on a key area of performance, from strength, moisture performance, sound performance and light reflectance, to durability and environmental performance.

Designed around a six-phase mailing campaign, the competition invited recipients to request follow-up information on Casoprano tiles, and Architect Keith Hurst, who runs a small practice in the St. Neots and Cambridgeshire area, was chosen from a large postbag to receive a competition prize of a pair of boxing gloves, signed by British Boxing legend, Sir Henry Cooper.

Keith, whose practice specialises in architectural technology and design, planning consultancy and surveying, has been specifying British Gypsum products throughout his professional life and was impressed by the benefits that their Casoprano tiles offered in every key area “They’re a knockout”, he said, “I’ll certainly put my money on them in future”.
