Polyflor says Now wash your hands

As part of the drive to combat MRSA and other hospital acquired infections, eye-catching bright red signs exhorting everyone to “Now wash your hands” have been inlaid into flooring directly adjacent to washbasin stations in wards throughout Hope Hospital in Salford.

The signs, incorporating a big directional arrow and hand washing illustration, incorporate colourways from Polyflor’s lower maintenance Polyflor XL PU heavy duty sheet vinyl range and were created via the company’s Expressions Design Service, which uses computerised water jet cutting techniques to produce precise shapes and styles for inlaid decoration.

Polyflor XL PU features a specially formulated polyurethane surface treatment - reducing maintenance costs by up to 24% by improving the soil resistance and cleanability of the floor - and offers a choice of 24 attractive colourways and of 1.5mm and 2mm gauges to suit differing traffic levels.

This product has been independently tested and results demonstrate that it inhibits the growth of MRSA. An effective cleaning regime is however, the most important defence against infection.

Polyflor XL PU meets the performance requirements of EN 649 and, fully tested to fire safety standard EN 13501-1, is certified as Class Bfl-S1, achieving the criteria EN ISO 9239-1 8kw/m2 and the mandatory requirement of EN ISO 11925-2 pass.

In common with all Polyflor sheet vinyl floorcoverings, the flooring can be welded at the seams and to coved skirtings to create continuous, impervious surfaces which offer no sanctuary to dirt and bacteria.
