Thurston Unveil Police Cell Prototype

Thurston Building Systems is proud to unveil a new police cell prototype in the week following an announcement by the Chief Inspector of Prisons that the service is almost at capacity. There are only 2,000 places left across the whole of the system, which equates to a mere 13 beds per prison across the whole of the UK.

From Monday 26 June until Wednesday 28th June, Wakefield based Thurston Building Systems will be opening up the site at Horbury. Major building contractors, leading local authority figures and senior police and prison service officials have already accepted an invitation to see and test out the new police cell prototype.

Jonathan Petch, MD of Thurston is in a buoyant mood, he said: “We feel we have the perfect solution to quickly and efficiently ease the problem of overcrowding. The steel frame police cells have excellent security features and can be designed, built and functioning at a fraction of the time it takes for traditional build.”

“We have been perfecting the design over the last couple of years and the pods have a life expectancy of over 60 years. I’m very confident in this new product and I am sure that our guests will be impressed by the new secure units.”

The cell is built to police authority and governmental criteria and has been designed to outperform these criteria.
