Abacus Lights Hinckley United
Abacus Lighting is the name behind the lighting of
Hinckley United’s prestigious new Marston Stadium.
Since being formed in 1997 through a merger with
Hinckley Athletic and Hinckley Town, Hinckley United has
gone from strength to strength, culminating in a move
from their Middlefield Lane ground into their newly
completed 4000 capacity Stadium, with additional pitches
for Hinckley's Reserve, Youth and 20 plus junior teams.
Hinckley United kicked off their Marston Stadium era on
the 5th March in front of a 2000 strong crowd, with
Jamie Lenton scoring the first ever goal at the Stadium.
Hinckley settled for a draw as Stalybridge fought back
to equalise in the second half.
Sports Lighting System
The chosen sports lighting system comprises of a four
corner mast system using Abacus tried and trusted base
hinged raising and lowering mast (HL330) allowing safe
and easy maintenance of the floodlighting system. Each
corner mast carries eight Challenger 1 floodlights
contributing to a lighting specification of 350 Lux
maintained.
Challenger 1 has been designed for outdoor sports
grounds, smaller sports stadia and other applications
such as aircraft aprons, dockyards and rail facilities.
This is a high performance floodlight comprising two
beam types; narrow and medium, which ensures lighting
efficiency. It incorporates the Abacus Light Control
System which uses a double asymmetric reflector system,
an internal glare baffle and an optional cowl accessory
to effectively control light pollution. The inclusion of
a sight aiming feature together with an aiming
protractor ensures the optimum targeting of individual
floodlights to achieve desired lighting levels.
