Controlled Environments Specified in Chilled Store Expansion Project

Kingspan Controlled Environments’ high performance PIR cored composite panel system has been specified by O Turner Insulation Ltd in the expansion of Woodward Foodservice Ltd’s Chilled Distribution Facility located in Witton, West Midlands.

The project, which started in mid-July, will measure 7,500sqm and comprise a chill store (approximately 72m x 30m x 5m high), a chilled marshalling area (approximately 75m x 30m x 5m high) and an ambient store (87m x 31m x 10m high).

Working with project co-ordinators SBH Ltd, O Turner has specified Kingspan Controlled Environments’ KS1150CS panels because it recognises its high-performance thermal properties which are vital in maintaining a temperature-controlled environment. In addition, the lighter structural properties of the panels, and the ease and speed of installation have also been key considerations in a project of this size.

O Turner also cites the LPCB and FM Approved status of Kingspan’s panels, and that they offer better “walk-on” ceiling spans than other manufacturers, as significant influencers in the specification.
