Tears for tots at art gallery

Teardrop shapes and coloured circles are inset into Polytred Acoustic PU sheet vinyl - from commercial flooring specialist Polyflor Ltd - as part of a colourful refurbishment of the children’s gallery at Liverpool’s Walker Art Gallery.

Installed by local flooring contractor Merseyside Carpets, Polytred Acoustic PU is based on the highly successful Polyflor XL PU heavy duty sheet vinyl, with a specially developed reinforced closed cell PVC foam backing which provides durability, comfort underfoot and excellent impact sound reduction.

The insets were hand cut by Merseyside Carpets following templates supplied by client National Museums Liverpool.

Available in ten colourways, Polytred Acoustic PU features a specially formulated polyurethane surface treatment which can reduce maintenance costs by up to 24% by improving the soil resistance and cleanability of the floor.

Polytred Acoustic PU meets the requirements of EN651 and, fully tested to fire safety standard EN 13501-1, is certified as Class Bfl-S1, achieving the criteria EN ISO 9239-1 ≥8kw/m2 and the mandatory requirement of EN ISO 11925-2 pass.
