Safetyworks & Solutions prove a big hit at the Oval

Safetyworks & Solutions Ltd, experts in the manufacture and installation of an extensive range of fall protection systems and access solutions, were delighted to provide the complete roof access system for the new OCS Stand at the famous Oval Cricket Ground.

The new stand, positioned at the Vauxhall end of the Oval Cricket Ground has replaced a collection of outdated stands and temporary buildings, and now provides 14,500 seats, raising the ground capacity to 23,000 spectators. The stand has four upper hospitality levels to accommodate 2,500 guests on match days and provide conference and banqueting facilities on non-match days.

The design has a magnificent sweeping roof and a living screen to soften the rear elevation. The redevelopment will also provide further covered seating and additional facilities for the SCCC Cricket School.

Working in conjunction with the appointed architects and contractors, Safetyworks & Solutions were able to utilise their wealth of experience within similar stadia environments to ensure that the most suitable roof access system was specified for this high profile new construction.

Securing a safe means of access and protecting individuals against the implications of a fall can be challenging in any work environment, and the innovatively designed OCS Stand proved no exception to the rule! To enable safe access to the roofs central glazing and main water gutters, it was evident from the outset that several factors would have to be addressed, and following detailed assessment of the structure and associated risks, Safetyworks & Solutions specified the Uniline 8mm Stainless Steel Lifeline. In addition to superb performance, the Uniline 8mm system offers a 25 year manufacturers warranty.

Purpose built, high quality, attachment and tensioning components compliment the Uniline cable aesthetically and in performance - being unobtrusive, corrosion resistant and enabling users to move unhindered regardless of their proximity to the system.
