British Standards Update
BS 1243, the British Standard for the Butterfly wall
tie has been withdrawn. New literature is now available
from Ancon Building Products that advises on wall tie
selection to DD140-2.
Ancon recommends that those still specifying and
purchasing BS 1243 wall ties should switch to the market
leading Staifix HRT4 Housing Wall Tie.
The HRT4 meets the stringent performance requirements of
a Type A tie to Part E of the Building Regulations:
Resistance to the passage of sound, and as a DD140 Type
4 tie is suitable for use in houses up to 10 metres high
with cavities from 50–100mm.
