Conder Products Oil Separator Range - first to pass new standard

Conder Products Ltd (Conder), a UK market-leader in water and wastewater treatment systems, has today announced that it is the first manufacturer to provide a fully verified range of oil/water Separators – Full Retention and Bypass - conforming to the adopted two-part European Standard (BS EN858-1: 2002 and BS EN 858-2: 2003).

This range of Separators fulfils the Verification of Separator Testing requirements of the Environment Agency’s new PPG3 Guidelines for the Use and Design of Oil Separators in Surface Water Drainage Systems, to be launched in January 2006.

Tested by the BSI, who are working in partnership with the Environment Agency to audit the accreditation process, the new Conder Separator range exceeded the exacting test requirements, gaining average results of less than 1 parts per million residual oil over the five required range tests.

Conder’s new range of Separators has a revolutionary new design, offering a small footprint, to enable savings on installation costs for contractors. Multiple Patents are pending to protect the innovations incorporated into this new range of products.

The range is ideal for traditional piped drainage systems and can also provide an essential component of sustainable drainage systems, promoting current environmental objectives. Pollution prevention is a critical part of sustainable drainage systems and verified oil separators will provide the containment of pollutants required as part of the quality discharge criteria.

From January all new prefabricated separators must comply with the required clauses of the BS EN858-1Standard. A list of oil separators certified to comply with clause 8.3 of BS EN 858:1 will be published on the Environment Agency’s web site identifying the separators for which verification evidence of oil separating performance has been supplied, examined and accepted.
