The Best Kept Secret in UPS

The AVK Protect 4 UPS System from 160kVA to 1000kVA and its advanced Digital design has been the best kept secret in the UPS world. Since 1996 this product has lead the field in Digital UPS and is still to be copied or overtaken, others claim full digital control but do they really have this functionality?

The AVK Protect 4 UPS has three microprocessors, one for the Rectifier, one for the Static Switch, and one for the Inverter. Each has its own power supply, providing internal redundancy in each module.

This true digitalisation means the settings at test and commissioning are for life, reducing maintenance time. The digital construction of the sine wave means the response time for 100% load steps and fuse blowing is less than 3ms, with the Voltage kept within 3%. It is truly a Hi Fi amplifier working at 50Hz. One of the many other features is efficiency, higher at 50% than at 100%; because our customers run Multi Module Systems they need the high efficiency when all systems are operational on half load. Another feature, to be found on Multi Module systems is that no one unit is the master, a Multi Module System has Flexible Multi Master Technology FMMT.

Railways, for example, London Underground have 124 Protect UPS Systems on the Jubilee Line Extension. Data Centres, Global Crossing, Orange, Hutchinson, Red Bus, and Colt Telecom all have AVK Protect UPS Multi Module Systems, in units ranging from 500kVA to 1000kVA Modules. There is a special Protect 5 range for the Oil & Petrochemical Industry, and a special range for Nuclear Power Stations, which is seismically tested to withstand shock.

Customer Witness Test

The customer witness test 2 x 500kVA, includes many test parameters such as System regulation from Max DC to Min DC Battery Volts, Inverter short circuit performance at the output terminals, and paralleling performance of multi module systems.
