ABB’s Latest Developments in Power Quality

Power Quality - Power Transformers - Shelf Capacitors - Distribution Panels

ABB Power - Vehicle

ABB has published its latest news from its Power Grids business in the UK. Headline news is that the firm has acquired its own mobile plant to remove moisture from the mineral oil that insulates power transformers.

The firm has also announced two major developments for power quality customers in the UK. First, it has now opened a purpose built new facility for power quality. The facility in the Wirral in Merseyside is enabling ABB to provide even better service to its growing power quality customer base in the UK, especially in terms of speed of response.

The Bromborough facility has been instrumental in ABB's launch of a new range of QCap QS shelf capacitors. These improve power factor (PF), which is the ratio of real power to apparent power. The QCap QS shelf range is based on ABB’s well-proven QCap capacitors in a modular format for panel builders to integrate into low voltage distribution panels and switchboards.
