Gilberts - Training

An innovative approach to partnerships is enabling one of air movement specialists to help clients improve understanding.

A select team of engineers from Derry Building Services has undertaken bespoke training at air movement specialist Gilberts (Blackpool), in Gilberts’ unique in-house test laboratory. The aim was to enable DBS personnel to see in practice, and fully appreciate, the effects on airflow paths and patterns from the diverse grilles, louvres and diffusers, to thus enable them to continue to deliver the most appropriate solution for clients.

"Our engineers have the theoretical knowledge and understanding of air paths and patterns; however, as we are involved in a building before it is handed over, occupied, used, it is rare we see or feel the different patterns of air paths, or experience at first hand how the strategy we have specified and installed affects the internal environment," explained Jason Turner, Derry Building Services Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.

"Gilberts’ training day gave us a better understanding and knowledge of grilles, louvres and diffusers, and how different profiles and configurations impact on air paths and patterns. Also, as we saw the whole production process from concept to manufacture, we are now even more confident that should we have a bespoke or unique situation on a project, we have a proven and reliable avenue in which to work to develop a solution for the client."

Gilberts’ Sales Director Ian Rogers added, "You should never stop learning, as our industry and products within it continue to evolve and advance. We believe we are at the forefront of technological expertise, and aim to help our partners by passing on our expertise, to enable them to grow their knowledge and their business."

Since its foundation 55 years ago, Gilberts has become Britain’s leading independent air movement specialist. Unusually, it develops all its products in-house, from design through tooling to production in its 85,000 sq ft Blackpool manufacturing facility. It is unique in its sector in having, in-house, advanced test facilities complimented by full software modelling to provide unrivalled validation of grilles, louvres and diffusers in situ.
