Xylem’s Watermark Programme Shortlisted for Award

Xylem Watermark Programme

Xylem’s Watermark programme has been honoured at this year’s Business in the Community Responsible Business Awards, as a finalist for The UPS International Disaster Relief category.

Supported by the Department for International Development, the awards recognise businesses which are helping communities to prepare, respond to and recover from disasters.

For Xylem this comes in the form of the Watermark initiative, a philanthropic corporate citizenship scheme which has a mission to provide safe water to communities in need via the construction of water towers and an in-depth sanitation and hygiene education programme.

Each tower is designed to be installed in a single day, with easy manual maintenance. They operate without power for up to 10 years, using an Ultra Filtration filter to produce 10,000 litres of clean water a day - enough to provide 1,000 people with a sustainable supply.

Duncan Lewis, Managing Director at Xylem said: "We are incredibly proud of the Watermark programme and the reality of what we can achieve in the communities that need it the most. Being recognised for the work that we do, as a finalist at the awards, is a real achievement and although we didn’t win, we are proud to stand amongst these other great companies and recognise their successes too."

The winner of the award was announced at the Responsible Business Awards.
