ABB Delivers Innovative HV PASS Switchgear in Just Four Days

HV Pass Switchgear - Energy Storage System - Renewable Energy

ABB delivers innovative HV PASS switchgear

ABB has deployed a high-voltage plug and pass switch system (PASS) switchgear solution in just four days at a new 40 MW battery energy storage system (ESS) project in Kent. ABB supplied a hybrid 132 kV PASS switchgear module as well as a 40 MVA 132/33 kV transformer to provide connection to a nearby substation.

These solutions enabled the fast-track connection of the battery energy storage site at Glassenbury, Kent to the grid and helped the site go online according to schedule.

Battery energy storage sites such as this will play a vital role in supporting grid stability in the future as conventional power station go offline and more renewable energy is integrated. Click here to find out more in the latest edition of FFWD, ABB’s customer newsletter.
