Catnic’s SSR²® Roofing and Cladding system has provided the ease of installation, aesthetic and durable performance needed for a new build summer pool house in Wherstead, Ipswich.

An old barn in the village of Wherstead was purchased, along with its ancillary buildings, to house two classic cars. The new owner also envisioned the space being used to house a new swimming pool facility and terrace for family and friends to use. The build required a roofing system that would provide a modern aesthetic with a low level of maintenance.

Having used Catnic’s SSR²® previously, on its own design studio as well as on several projects, KLH Architects was impressed with the durability, finish and ease of installation. Taking into account the specific project requirements, KLH Architects felt it was an ideal solution to achieve a contrast to the 16th century listed farm building – providing the owners with the desired aesthetic, with minimal upkeep.

We are proud to have worked on this project and pleased that the owners are happy with the final result.”

SSR²® was installed on the new build pool house and provided a contemporary agri-industrial aesthetic in contrast to the traditional farm building style of the adjoining garage. With the design of the building informed by sensitive landscape and historic context, SSR²® provided a contemporary version of a rural working farm building.

TJ Construction, a building and renovation company in East Anglia, was tasked with installing the SSR²®. Andy Dyer, Company Director at TJ Construction, had previously attended one of the free SSR²® training courses provided by Catnic at its headquarters in Caerphilly, gaining a greater understanding of the installation process.

“This was our first time installing SSR²®,” explained Andy. “Attending the Catnic training course provided a real insight into the system and showcased the simple installation process. This helped us to ensure that there were no problems once we got to site.”
